Place High with Computer Search Engines

I have learned the Secret of Scoring high on Search engines so that my web-sites will get up front on search engines and my web-sites will actually get viewed. I have not finished on working on my web-sites yet but have improved them a lot and seeing more clicks on my web-sites.This is very important stuff if you want your web-sites to be seen.

********
I can remember paying a search engine service, a few years back, $50. a month and they were  to take care of seeing that my web-sites got on search engines, only to find out they did nothing for 3 months as they had sent me an e-mail telling me that I needed to send them information thru their web-site which I happened to find some 3 months later. They wanted me to send them things like Keywords, web-site title and etc... that to be honest, at that time, I had no idea what they were talking about. They were to take care of everything I thought.

I did know one thing and that was that they were getting their $50. each month and was doing absolutely nothing but waiting for me to get back to them. I did get back to them and cancelled out on their service.

I have since struggled trying to figure out how to put the right information on my web-site that would give me good search engine results.

I would go to the First Page of my web-site and right click on "View Source" and the information was not there, why? Because I did not know how to get it there. LOL

What I am talking about is a page called " View Source". "View Source" is a very important page as it has valuable information on it that needs to be on it in order for a web-site to place high on computer search engines. Below is an example of what I should see at the top of the "View Source " page on my web-site " Erv's Personal web-site".
*******
<html>
<head>
<TITLE>Erv's Personal web-site</TITLE>
<meta name="keywords" content="Erv's Personal web-site,Creating Video's,Book Promotion,Book Promotion Video's,Creating Audio,Promoting using audio,Publishing Tips,Publishing Warnings,How-To-Find out if a Publisher is good or bad,How to contact the Better Business Bureau,How and where to get Book Reviews,C. Gale perkins speaking at Northern Essex Community College,How to find School Yearbooks,Center Street Auto Racing Video's,Erv's Book Advertiser,Publishing,
self publishers,publisher,publishers" />
<meta name="description" content="Erv's Book Advertiser,Creating Video's,Erv's Videos on UnCut Video,Hugs N Kisses.....the clown,The Baby's Cross by C. Gale Perkins." / >

*******
I will give you the web-site Link so you can look at the page that comes up and then right click on the page and then click on " View Source ".

The URL is :

You will find the Title and Keyword Info about 8 or 10 inches down from the top.

Now How did I get the above "Title" and "Keywords" to show up on "view source"? When using my web-site program to make changes I click on add Text and the program says where I can add text and I click on to add text as high up to the top of the web-site page that I can and then I make a choice of using HTML to put the Title and Keywords in there while "editing HTML" because when it say's "Hiding HTML" The Title and Keywords will not show up on "View Source" but will show up on the web-site. It took me quite awhile before I understood this and could do this so again if you have problems feel free to contact me, or keep at it until it works.

If you have any questions feel free to e-mail me at:  ErvHarmon@aol.com

Why am I passing this information on to people? The answer is simple I have had a lot of problems in this area in the past. I am an author's assistant and my interest is to tell as many people as I can about a great book titled, "The Baby's Cross" by C. Gale Perkins that I can, plus I want to pass this information on to other author's, and author assistants to help them with their Book Promotions because any time I can help them help themselves I will do just that.

Understanding Search Engines and How they work can be very complicated to understand because there is so many things involved.
******
One web-site that I have seen get many many people to go to is one that does not have a great "View Source", but has had an average of over 100 hits a day for the last 16 months. also when I use the URL for that web-site and run a Meta Tag Analysis it reflects that the 1.title is too short 2. It has no Description Tag 3. No Keyword Tag. 4. No HREF Title Tag. 5. No Robots Tag. 6. No Content Language Tag. 7. No Author Tag. 8. No Copyright Tag. 9. No Revisit-After Tag. This amazes me as I would be very happy to get an average of over 100 clicks on my web-site a day.

The web-site I am referring to is a ski and snow Sledding resort in Maine and it is a very good web-site and is one that people that have been on it will go back to often.

Check it out

I am going to take a minute and try to digest this Info. The Search Engine Place that the Meta Tag Analysis was done on in each of the 9. items replied by saying : Our professional team will enhance your website (HTML structure, hidden code, keywords density, meta tags, alt tags, and link popularity) to be more easily found in the major search engines for relevant keywords and phrases. Keep in mind that this web-site has had 120 hits per day for the past 16 months and I would think a web-site that averages that many hits a day is one very good web-site.

********

I will link some web-site's and if you click on the links and then go to the "View Source" on each of the web-sites you will see good Meta Tags on the top of the web-site where they are supposed to be. At the present time I only have two web-sites that I will use and several web-sites other people have done or have had other people do for them .

My web-site #1

My Web-site #2

Trellix Web-site

Angelfire Web-site

SEO Tools Web-site

Education Web-site #1

Education Web-site #2

*******

I have several web-pages but only a few of them are ready to be submitted to web-site search engines. But here they are if you check some or all of them you will see some of them show Meta Tags but if they do they are about 10 inches below the top of the page.

My Other Web-sites

I have three different types of web-sites and they are Trellix or Tripod, AOL Hometown Web-sites, and Angelfire Web-sites.

I have no problem getting my Meta Tags like they should be but Angelfire is a HTML web-site which I am not very good at. But I can take the URL of one of my other web-sites say Trellix and put the URL web-site into my Angelfire program and make the "View Source" suitable for submitting to Search Engines.

See my "Creating Video's Web-site and check the "View Source. My Angelfire Web-site

Now click on the "Creating Video's Web-page I did on my Tripod or Trellix program at :

My Tripod Web-site

Some of the reason for this is that my Tripod/Trellix program is a WYSIWYG type program and so is my AOL Hometown web-site. My Angelfire is a HTML type program and it has the ability to change the data on the view source page and save it where the other programs cannot.  I can get the Meta information on the "View Source" but I am unable to save it. I feel lucky that I can get the META info on my Trellix/Tripod and AOL web-sites. The problem that still remains is that they apear about 10 inches from the top of the "View Source" page and idealistically it should be at the top and might cause poor results when you try to put the URL on a search engine.

I think I have covered the main points I was wanting to make and that is that preparing your web-sites is important and will get you results. It is important to realize that if you run tests that are made available by places that offer search engine service to see if you web-site has any problems don't be suprised if yours fail their test as in most cases they want you to think you have a problem so you will use their service.

If you look at the "View Source" on a web-site look at the keywords and then write them down and then after leaving that web-site do a search using those keywords and see if they take you back to the web-site. If they do then you have done a good job.

Place High with Computer Search Engines was done with the intention of helping people better understand Search Engines and how to prepare your site so that your site will be found when someone searches for your site.

If you were to run a test on your web-site to see if it is ready to be put on a search engine do not be alarmed if it fails and you get an offer by a search engine place to fix it and submit it to search engines for you. Remember their test was designed by them and is often used to get more business for them.

This is my Creating Video's Web-site on Angelfire.

I put in my Meta Info as :

And I end up getting when I run the test:

Meta Tag Analysis
URL: http://www.angelfire.com/ervharmon/page7.html

TITLE: Your TITLE tag contains 6 words. The site's TITLE tag should be between 5 and 10 words (64-80 characters).

DESCRIPTION: Oops, no DESCRIPTION tag!   (Click Here)

Warning: The DESCRIPTION tag is missing or is not properly formatted. This can result lower overall rankings and therefore less hits to your web site. Your Meta DESCRIPTION tag should be between 100 and 200 characters (10-20 words).

KEYWORDS: Your KEYWORDS tag contains 163 characters. The site's Meta KEYWORDS tag should be between 100 and 500 characters (20-50 words).

HREF TITLE: Oops, no HREF TITLE tag!   (Click Here)

Warning: The HREF TITLE tag is missing or is not properly formatted. This can result lower overall rankings and therefore less hits to your web site. The HREF TITLE tag should be between 3 and 5 words (30-50 characters). You should use a few of your primary KeyWords in your HREF TITLE tag.

ROBOTS: ALL=INDEX,FOLLOW - The INDEX directive tells the robot it is ok to index the page. The FOLLOW directive tells the robot it is ok to follow the links found on this page.

CONTENT-LANGUAGE: The CONTENT-LANGUAGE tag declares the primary natural language of the document and may be used by search engines to categorize by language.

AUTHOR: The Author tag declares who is the author of the document.

COPYRIGHT: The Copyright tag defines any copyright information about the document.

REVISIT-AFTER: The REVISIT-AFTER tag is a very important tag as it tells the search engine how often to spider / revisit your site.

As you can see I still have some work to do to have everything as good as I can get it but I think it will help you in learning to improve your Meta Tag Information.
********
If I go to http://www.angelfire.com/ervharmon/page7.html and click on view source below is what I get.

This is a great way to do your Meta Tag Info when preparing to submit your web-sites to search Engines.

*******
We are almost done I have two more web-sites that I want to do a Meta Tag Analysis on.

Again Using Meta Tag Analysis

The First one is on URL:

Meta Tag Analysis
URL: http://www.ervharmon.com/placehighwithcomputersearchengines/

TITLE: Your TITLE tag contains 8 words. The site's TITLE tag should be between 5 and 10 words (64-80 characters).

Warning: The DESCRIPTION tag is missing or is not properly formatted. This can result lower overall rankings and therefore less hits to your web site. Your Meta DESCRIPTION tag should be between 100 and 200 characters (10-20 words).

COPYRIGHT: The Copyright tag defines any copyright information about the document.

REVISIT-AFTER: The REVISIT-AFTER tag is a very important tag as it tells the search engine how often to spider / revisit your site.

And the second URL is :

and you get :

Meta Tag Analysis

Meta Tag Analysis
URL: http://ervharmon.angelfire.com/page12.html

TITLE: Your TITLE tag contains 8 words. The site's TITLE tag should be between 5 and 10 words (64-80 characters).

DESCRIPTION: Your DESCRIPTION tag contains 138 characters. The site's Meta DESCRIPTION tag should be between 100 and 200 characters (10-20 words).

KEYWORDS: Your KEYWORDS tag contains 406 characters. The site's Meta KEYWORDS tag should be between 100 and 500 characters (20-50 words).

HREF TITLE: Your HREF TITLE tag contains 4 words. The site's HREF TITLE tag should be between 3 and 5 words (30-50 characters).

ROBOTS: ALL=INDEX,FOLLOW - The INDEX directive tells the robot it is ok to index the page. The FOLLOW directive tells the robot it is ok to follow the links found on this page.

COPYRIGHT: The Copyright tag defines any copyright information about the document.

REVISIT-AFTER: The REVISIT-AFTER tag is a very important tag as it tells the search engine how often to spider / revisit your site.

Note in the above two web-sites that they are exactly the same except one is using A Tripod web-site that is a WYSIWYG type program and does not use HTML and the other is a Angelfire web-site that uses HTML. Does this mean one will actually get you more viewers to your web-site? I don't know at this point but I will be trying to find out.

I am very excited that I was able to show you that with the second URL  :

That it was possible to get a Meta Tag Analysis that passed all of the Meta Tag Tests.
*******

Now to finish my main goal and that is to help people to better understand Search Engines so they can place higher on search engines and their web-site gets more clicks or views and thus their web-site will do a better job promoting their book/books. The hard part is coming up with the correct keywords in your Meta Tag that will help direct future book buyers to your web-site.

Remember that before coming across your web-site that few if anyone knows about your web-site and that it exists so it will be your task to prepare your Meta Information before submitting your web-site to Search Engines so that more people will find your web-site. You can  monitor how many people go to your site by using a counter on your web-site.

*******

The next thing that needs to be done is to submit your web-site to the web. You can submit your web-site directly to a few places like Google,Yahoo and MSN but for the most part you will want to submit your site thru a search engine place. Their are many different places. The place I have just started using asks for keyword info, web-site Title and web-site Description which is three of the Meta Tags.

Remember it may take up to about 10 weeks after you submit your site before you will start seeing your web-site listed on search engines. A good suggestion as far as coming up with good Keywords is to stop and think what words would work with your web-site and try the words before you even submit your site just to see what sites do come up when using a possible keyword. If you are an author and have a web-site about your book stop and anticipate what words would work for your site.

I will tell you who I am using presently using however if you know someone that gets a lot of people viewing their web-site ask them what search engine they used.

The search engine I used is Virtual-Submit.com:To go to their web-site :

******

I also have used Entireweb and both places are good places in my opinion providing you have done your homework of putting on your Meta Tags on your web-site. They are ok anyway but i feel you will get better results if you do spend time doing your Meta Tags.

To go to Entireweb :

*********

I want to come back to something I had posted earlier concerning my Tripod Web-site.

I feel lucky that I can get the META info on my Trellix/Tripod and AOL web-sites. The problem that still remains is that they apear about 10 inches from the top of the "View Source" page and idealistically it should be at the top and might cause poor results when you try to put the URL on a search engine. I do feel that even though  the Meta Tags do not appear at the top and are about 10 inches from the top of the "View Source" page does not matter at all as I am beginning to get good results and it doesn't seem to be a problem.

*******

I Just put in the following on Google.com search engine from the Meta Tag I did for, "The Baby's Cross" web-site :

brilliance,beauty, feeling, wit, understanding

and this is where Google took me :

This is amazing as it took me to another one of C. Gale Perkins Web-sites, at the top of the page

Try the above yourself because when I went to link it Google would not show what I wanted you to see.

The more you experiment like this the sooner you will find the best Keywords for you to use on your Meta Tags.

*********

Good Luck with getting your web-sites to place high on Search Engines.

Your the best and Don't you forget it.
